Mattapan Baptist Church of Milton, MA 02186

Dr. Rodney F. Price, Pastor . . . . . . . . . . . . . 617-698-4900

  • 1. Membership says, "I belong here," and God says that believers belong together (Heb. 10:23-25). You sense that God wants you here, with the people of MBC at this time in your Christian life, and you want to make a public declaration that you are committed to God's work through this church.
  • 2. Membership says, "We share the same ministry goals," and God says to be committed to one another for the sake of spiritual impact (Eph. 4:16). You believe that Jesus has a work to do in our city and around the world, and you're willing to join with others to see that it gets done.
  • 3. Membership says, "I accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers in the family of God," and that's God's plan as well (Gal. 6:1-2, 10). You want to be part of a caring network of people, sharing one another's joys and sorrows, and helping one another grow through worship, Bible study, and fellowship.
  • 4. Membership says, "I am accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for my walk with God," and God warns against spiritual autonomy (Heb.13:17; Matt.18:15-20). You don't want to go it alone in standing for Jesus Christ, and want to receive the guidance, equipping, and assistance necessary to remain on target.

  •  5. Membership says, "I accept responsibility for how things are done here," and God says that's how it should be (1 Cor. 12:20-27). Members elect officers, approve an annual ministry budget, as well as voting on other church matters. Every member has an opportunity in the shaping this church's direction and ministry goals.

  • 6. Membership keeps us legal (1 Tim. 3:2; 1 Peter 2:13-17). The state of MA recognizes churches if they have a credible membership and organization. Obedience to these laws affirms that we are responsible citizens with a desire to serve.

  • We would be glad to have you join us as we serve the Lord.

    R. F. Price, Pastor

How do I join Mattapan Baptist Church?

Let's face it, every once in a while you catch yourself thinking, "I probably ought to join MBC." But then the phone rings, the game starts, the microwave signals that your leftovers are ready, or something else equally significant captures your attention and off you go.

In spite of all the other exciting options in life, the time has come for many of you to seriously consider joining the church. We've developed this simple survey to help you determine whether you are ready to take the plunge.

You know it is time to join MBC when:
... you keep returning to hear the Pastor’s messages.

... people ask you where you attend church and you answer, "Mattapan Baptist Church."

... you put a portion of your hard-earned money in the offering plate on a regular basis.

... you can complete the following statement:
“I need to be part of God’s work here at ______

... you have invited someone to attend MBC with you.

... you find yourself gravitating toward the same seat every Sunday morning.

The Next Step

We realize that one reason more of you don't join MBC is that the membership process requires a bit more time and effort than you have been willing to invest. Others of you are still trying to figure out what the process entails.

In either case, here's what you need to do next. Any Sunday morning, go to the information table located in the main hallway and sign up for the next available MBC Q&A.

At the Q&A we will feed you, inform you and give you a membership application. Fill out your application and take it to the Fellowship Area after the church service or give it to the teachers of the classes. At one of these groups, a leader will sit down with you to review your application, sign it for you and answer any questions you have about the church.
If you have any questions about church membership, please feel free to contact us at 617-698-4900.

Meeting will be held at 1:00 pm after the church service.  Refeshments will be served.

               Membership Qualifications
There are three prerequisites to joining MBC
 First, that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
 Second, that you have been baptized by immersion since becoming a believer.
